Today Microsoft announced public beta testing for the upcoming Xbox Live dashboard update. The update will finally include a web browser as well as a more refined category search. If you would like to check out the new look before it’s released, head over to the beta sign-up page.
I’m not the biggest Microsoft fan (slap me if I sound pretentious) and coming from a design standpoint, they have always lacked a certain aesthetic among tech companies, but I have to admit the xbox live and xbox dashboard were two things I have always admired about the xbox 360.
It seems like Microsoft is trying to learn from the past ten years by actually making products people are asking for. I’ve always loved the Xbox Live setup, it paved the way for mainstream online gaming. I’m excited to see if Windows 8 revives the operating system.
I certainly hope Windows 8 is a step up, we don;t want another Vista fiasco.
I think they are hoping the world just forgets about Vista and Windows Millennium.
Windows Millennium? I must have blocked that one out…
Although I prefer the PS3, the 360 menu has always been miles ahead of Sony’s XMB in terms of visual display.
Agreed. I wish Sony would remodel some of their online features, primarily the lack of party chat. I mean at this point that’s a little absurd.
I might be the only one out there, but I hate having to go to the Game screen, then My Games once they leave the Quickplay menu. Pain in the butt…. it is pretty though.
I agree, its pretty cumbersome. I’m hoping they streamline a lot of the issues with the current layout.
