There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that the Arma 2 mod, Day Z, is a trmendous success. It’s approaching nearly one million unique users, 500,000 of which started within the last month and creator Dean Hall is actively looking for ways to maintain this momentum. Recently he stated his intentions to create a standalone version of the game, for a small fee of course, but he promises to make it worth your time and money.
“I want to see it become a standalone game, following the Minecraft model of a low price point, but that will only work if we say that everyone is going to pay, and in order for people to not feel ripped off we need to have a load of new content; so, things like base-building, tidying and cleaning up animations and add ragdoll physics as the like.”
This is very exciting news for anyone slightly interested in Day Z. There is already of ton of expanding content and if you owe it to yourself to at least try out this unique and engaging experience.
No official date has been announced but Dean Hall claims it will be ready “certainly before Christmas.”
Fantastic news!
