Saints Row IV Inauguration Station

As a precursor to Saints Row IV, Volition has released the character creation system for everyone to play around with for free!

Sadly, it’s got me more worried than excited for Saints Row IV.

While the trailers look great and a lot of fun, I, and I think a lot of people, can’t shake the feeling that this is overgrown DLC. More Saints Row 3.5 than a full blown sequel. The third game is a tough thing to discuss because it’s great and tons of fun but when compared to Saints Row 2 well… Let me put it this way, Saints Row the Third is like a really really good hamburger, Saints Row 2 is that same hamburger with cheese and bacon and ketchup and mustard and lettuce and onions and tomatoes and tangy mayo on the bun and it comes with a side of chili cheese fries and an ice cold beer and why did I start writing this thinking it wouldn’t make me hungry? Here, I’ll let Fl1PPY.com explain (NSFW language):

Anyway, Inauguration Station seems to be cut and pasted from Saints Row the Third with a few minor tweaks, some good, some bad. You have a lot more clothing options, although not nearly as much in Saints Row 2. I’m guessing you’ll get all these in the game and not as some on disc DLC nonsense. You can change the pitch in your character’s voice, which is nice but the zombie voice is gone and replaced by Nolan “Nathan Drake” North. Not complaining but was it so taxing to have both? The female voices seem to lack any charisma with the crazy latina voice gone completely (I’m not happy about that) and replaced by a grating thick southern accent that sounds like Sarah Palin trying to impress people at a Texas Roadhouse. Like in the third game you can access SaintsRow.com and take a look at what other people have done and download your character from Saints Row the Third if you want. All in all even with the complaints, the Saints Row character creation system is still one of the best in gaming and it’s free right now. Check it out on Xbox Live, Playstation Network and Steam for PC. Saints Row IV comes out August 20th in North America and August 23rd in Europe.
