Reaper of Souls Confirmed

Earlier this week, Blizzard teased us with a possible expansion to Diablo 3. Today at Gameson, Reaper of Souls became a definite reality. Come see what this expansion has to offer.

No One Can Stop Death

The lords of hell rage within the Black Soulstone, their souls screaming for vengeance and release. Before the artifact can be sealed away forever, Malthael–Angel of Death–manifests in the mortal realms with a deadly new purpose: to steal the Black Soulstone and bend its infernal power to his will. So begins the end of all things…

In this “dark and terrifying new chapter” in Diablo’s story we follow Malthael, the “fallen Archangel of Wisdom” who returns as the Angel of Death and captures the Black Soulstone. He plans on releasing the Prime Evil upon mankind and it’s your duty to track him and down and, wait for it… save the world!

In addition to a brand new chapter, there will a brand new character, The Crusader, who seems to be very reminiscent of the Paladin from Diablo 2, and an increased level cap of 70. We will also get new skills and abilities for all of the existing classes in the game.

Reaper of Souls promises to deliver that “end-game” experience that many players felt wasn’t quite there in Diablo 3. There will be new quests, terrifying new monsters, and two new games modes: Loot Runs and Nepahlem trails. Both of these modes are “designed to provide players with a highly replayable (and highly rewarding) end-game experience.”

There is no official release date yet, but we can always keep our fingers crossed and hope for a holiday release. I know many people have been eager for some new Diablo 3 content for quite some time.

  1. Diablo 3 Draksiders 2 edition with less puzzle solving!

I like that ring to it.

Can you explain the Nephilim in this game to me? I am fascinated by the Nephilim lore.

    1. In the world of Diablo a Nephalem is a human who’s parents are an angel and a demon. They basically make some super-human, ying-yang baby. It’s how they explain that one random hero can do what the entire world and it’s armies can’t.
