Normally we like to keep things pretty positive on the site, but sometimes it’s nice to just sit back and rip apart a terrible game. We’ve all seen some horrible things in our time as gamers, but for this week’s round of Nerd Wars! we want to hear about the worst game you’ve ever played. Come share all the juicy details.
Here are a few of our favorite terrible games:
If you survived that onslaught of all things terrible, you are a true warrior. Now try clear that garbage out of your mind and come share the worst game you’ve ever played!
“Real Pool” for PS2. It was a virtual pool game & jeez…I’ve seen minigames that’ve done a better job.
Oh boy, that does sound like a big stinkfest. When I was younger my dad would always rent lame games like that and make me play them with him.
Heroes of the Lance. I never even got to the midget that you can’t hit. I never even figured out how to move past the first screen.
Oh no… I had never seen this one in action, but I just YouTubed it… wow, it looks painful.
Crusaders of Might and Magic. I love the M&M series, as well as the HoM&M series, but this… this was just terrible and felt like an experiment into 3D gameplay, well after 3D gameplay was already a real thing.
That was a huge disappointment for me as well. Like you, I was a huge fan of the Heroes of Might and Magic series and was looking forward to Crusaders… and then I played it.
Fifth Element for the Playstation. Oh god, what a shit game.
the worst game i can think of right now is warriors of might and magic for the ps2.
That’s two for the Might and Magic series. I never played Warriors, but I might have to check it out now that I know it’s terrible.
i thought of another really bad turd of a game. kileak the dna imperative for ps1. it is an abysmal FPS game where every enemy and corridor looks exactly the same and you’re just constantly searching for stupid key cards or something like that.
I’ve never heard of that game. It sounds like there’s a good reason haha

Lawnmower Man for the PC from way back in like… 1995? ’96? All around brutal.
Oh no… I totally forgot that game existed. I remember playing it for the SNES and being blown away by how difficult it was.
The only thing I could focus on was that you kept doing the mouth music version of the Jurassic Park Theme… Otherwise funny and entertaining!
I feel like that was the best part, except the ragdoll vortex of dead wolves at the very end of course.
Last Action Hero on the SNES gets my vote. Terrible even by the low standards of movie licensed games.
I wonder how it compares the the Lethal Weapon series? I remember playing all three of those on SNES and every single one was terrible.
for this i have two contenders. hey you pikachu and almost the whole bubsy franchise. wait what i jigglymon like a bubsy game…yes bubsy 2 is actualy not the best game but its ok number 1 sucked but number 2 is ok sequels are ment to improve the only major thing bubsy 1 got wrong was the life system you get hit and you get 1 ko and i think you can figure out what 2 did but hey you pikachu is the most boring game i have ever played but why is this a pokemon game yes i know its a spin off but 1 of those pokemon spin offs are in my top 10 list for best games ever by my standards and its pokepark 2. because of hey you pikachu *hit pokemon is my 2nd favourite franchise if you want to know what my favourite is mileson is going to have to make a nerd wars franchise list.
Yeah Bubsy was very frustrating. It tried to copy Sonic’s sense of speed, but the level designs punished you for running forward.
For some reason I loved the first Bubsy when I was younger. Granted it’s been like 15 years since I’ve even seen it played, but it was like a poor-man’s Sonic the Hedgehog.
If the worst games would be the biggest disappointments, I’d say The Sims 3 and Final Fantasy XIV + XIII.
I’m right there with you for Final Fantasy 13. I bought that game day one and got rid of it a few days later. It was so simplified. It was like watching one long cutscene.
Indeed, and even the story was weird. I got a Playstation 3, only because of that game. I have never been that disappointed before.
I felt the same way. As soon as I saw the first summon, I shut the game off and never played it again.

Reblogged this on The Daily Grind.
Hmm lots in the NES days… Winter Games
Haha I had this game, and I agree that it was the best worst game ever. The worst game I have ever played was, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. For many reasons.
That’s pretty harsh for an Elder Scrolls game. I wasn’t a huge fan of Oblivion, but I did enjoy Morrowind and Skyrim.
Yeah, I LOVED Morrowind and Skyrim was right behind it. Oh, and actually, the worst game I actually played was ET, you know the one.
ET…. nooooooooo!!!!! I played that as a child and even then I knew how terrible the game was.
-Mileson
Haha, I know right, no matter how young you are, or how old, you will always hate ET. XD
it’s a cliche choice, but I’m going to have to go with Batman Forever. Completely mind-numbing in every way, shape, or form, which is heart-breaking to a batfreak such as myself.
Unfortunately that’s how I feel about 95% of Batman games. I was super excited to see Arkham Asylum release and blow everyone away.
Worst game I have ever played possibly goes to Secret of the Magic Crystal (PC game, can get it on Steam). Honestly, it was gifted to me… … Don’t judge me 😦 On the plus side, it’s Linux compatable. One of the few games… ;-; Oh, damn it..!
Basically, you look after a pony and let it grow into a magical unicorn. By slapping and brushing it on the rear. Yup. Gaming.
That sounds magical. I might have to look into that a little bit more. I can play that on one screen and marathon some My Little Brony on the other screen.
Magical doesnt even begin to describe Magic of the Secret Crystal… It is so magical, I think I can breed unicorns now. Rainbows away! *Flies off firing rainbows everywhere.* Now I know how Nyan Cat feels.
Damn… I think I have rainbows coming out of my ass right now. Thanks for the magical recommendation!
-Mileson
I am a unicorn. Try again later 😉
As far as hype vs. reality goes, Final Fantasy XIII, no doubt – somewhat baffling it got a full score from Famitsu. Actually *the* worst would be Limbo of the Lost, but I actually had to get that game based on its awful reputation and it was enjoyable in all its awfulness. So maybe GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, the most boring FPS I ever had the chance to play.
The worst game I’ve ever finished has to be Aliens: Colonial Marines, it’s just so broken in every way, shape and form.
Oh that game… I wanted so badly for it to be good, but it was just terrible. A sad, terrible, broken game.

X Blades. A girl running around jiggling in a thong doesn’t bother me. Repetitive game play, crappy camera controls and just crappy story bother me. The only good part of the game was the animation.
