The Daily Clip: Me – 1, Humpback Whale – 0

blackflag

I apologize in advance for the mass amount of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag footage lately on The Daily Clip, but it’s such a massive game that I haven’t had time for anything else!

One of my favorite aspects of the game is the ability to sail out on my little rowboat and harpoon various giants of the sea for crafting materials, and sometimes end up chumming the water with my own blood. I have a legit fear of large bodies of open water and the massive creatures that live inside of it, so maybe this clip isn’t as terrifying as I imagined it. Still, the humpback whale is huge, as you can see at the end of the clip. It has a pretty nasty health bar too, so my DVR only recorded the last few hits.

If you’re curious as to how it all works, you have a set amount of harpoons to throw at the target, so you have to make them all count or risk running out of ammunition. Your rowboat can only sustain a few hits as well, with the larger humpback whales and great white sharks dealing more damage than the smaller bull shark or hammerhead. You get a few hits before they dive down, breaking your line and heading in for the attack, so you have to be pretty quick as well. Your rowboat can be reinforced in the crafting interface to take more damage, and you can also upgrade your harpoons to deal more damage which is nice. It’s not a big part of Black Flag at all, but one of the many things you can do to get lost between the more tedious story missions.

We hope you enjoyed today’s edition of The Daily Clip. Be sure to check back every day for more great videos straight from our Xbox One Game DVR.
