Tomb Raider vs Tomb Raider

tomb raider DE

Last month it was announced that the 2013 hit reboot of Tomb Raider was getting a… well a reboot, sort of. The game is being upgraded for the PS4 and Xbox One to 1080p as well as some more goodies. Check out the comparison via IGN:

Looking pretty sweet! You’ll also get the multiplayer DLC, making of and promotional material like comics, as well as the Tomb of the Lost Adventurer.

Be sure to check out Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on January 28th!

  1. Lots of people are hating on this reboot but I think it’s a good way for people who maybe just got back into gaming with next gen and they want to experience it. Yeah sure the graphic updates aren’t that impressive but like I said if you’ve never experienced it before an even more enhanced graphical tune up for your first trial of it would be pretty sweet.

    1. This is something I’m definitely interested. I never got around to trying the original and I think it would make a great addition to my Xbox One collection.

    2. As someone who has already beaten the current version, I can’t fathom paying $60 for a fresh coat of paint and multiplayer DLC. But had I never tried it, it’s worth every penny. Tomb Raider was fantastic.

      1. I agree man I’m not gonna mess with it but for people who’ve never tried it it will blow their effing minds. It’s one of the best games I’ve played in a long time.

      2. I put it in my Gamefly queue, so if it shows up at some point I’ll play through it again. $20-$30 would have been the sweet spot for a one-year old game, or at least adding more single player content. The multiplayer really wasn’t that good to begin with.

  2. The enhances graphics do make the game look pretty amazing…but, ultimately, it’s still the same game. I don’t have a next-gen console yet but even if I did, I wouldn’t buy TR 2013 again just because this version looks prettier. Hopefully Square Enix will now focus on a sequel that looks this good but is a little truer to the older games. 🙂

    1. It sort of works out for because I never got around to playing the original. I think a shiny new update gives me no excuses to check out the game everyone has been harassing me to play.

  3. I got the Xbox360 version for Christmas, and actually completed it last night. While I’m uber grateful to get the game for Christmas, I’m kind of wishing I’d waited for the next gen version.

However I did really really enjoy it on 360, so there is every chance that i’ll double dip and pick it up on PS4 perhaps when it drops in price a little.
