Shovel Knight promises to blend elements from Castlevania, Mega Man, and a plethora of other retro classics into one amazingly delicious nostalgia smoothie. The game’s kickstarter exploded with support over a year ago and now this glorious throwback gets a long awaited release date.
I got the chance to try Shovel Knight at IndieCade late last year and I loved it. The combat felt familiar, but still managed to stay fresh and exciting. If you’ve ever loved Castlevania or Mega Man, you’ll definitely find something to enjoy. Yacht Club Games has crafted a beautiful homage to a few of my all-time favorite franchises.
Shovel Knight is scheduled to release on March 31st, 2014 for Wii U, 3DS, and Steam.
