The director of Mighty No. 9 and creator of Mega Man, Keiji Inafune took some time out of his busy schedule to share some screenshots from the Alpha build of his upcoming Kickstarter funded game.
All of these screenshots are from the Alpha build of Mighty No. 9, so it’s safe to say that they will not represent the final quality of the game, but it’s still very exciting to watch this spiritual successor to Mega Man take shape.
What are your thoughts on these new screens?
I missed out on the KickStarter for this and that makes me sad. The game looks like it is going to be killer but that may be my 8-bit heart speaking. Even though it will be very fleshed out in the end they really seem to be capturing that old school feel but on a new, non-recycled sort of way.
I was shocked by how badly Mighty No. 9 crushed it’s Kickstarter goal. I’m really excited to see how this game turns out. If it does well, that could mean an epic comeback to more classic Mega Man games.
I miss Mega Man so much. I can’t wait for this to get released!
I know… Me too… The thing that kills me is that when Capcom saw the success of this Kickstarter they said “we had no idea there was such a demand for a classic Mega Man game.” What a load of crap!
Really?! They did not know there was such a huge fan base for Mega Man yet they made 10 Mega Man games? Bullshit. But in any case, I’m glad that Mega Man is getting a new lease of life, even if it is under a shiny new label.
Yeah… I love Capcom, but sometimes I think they’re insane. I hope the success of this game leads to the revival of Mega Man. It’s obvious now that Mega Man still has a huge following.
Let’s face it, all video game makers have some insanity within them, it just varies from company to company. I’m just hoping Capcom don’t try and ruin this revival by bringing out a slapdash Mega Man game at the same time in order to get some fan love back.
I am excited and glad I backed it. I am not entirely sold on the graphics yet, though. I love the art, but it looks a bit cheap in these screenshots.
I know the game is still pretty early in development, so I’m sure the graphics will change before the final release. I know they are trying to add some modern flair to classic design and sometimes that can look a little strange. It’s two completely different worlds trying to fuse.
That’s the issue. It looks a bit too much like a bad Playstation/Playstation 2 2.5d game at this point.
I am hopeful, and I’ll play it no matter what. I did Kickstart it after all!
I can definitely see where you’re coming from. As long as the controls are tight and the gameplay is fun, I don’t really care what the graphics look like haha.
It’s just tough. Classic Mega and the X series are absolutely gorgeous games.
I know brotha… Mega Man X is easily in my top five games of all time. I’m hoping Mr. Inafune delivers a game on par with that experience, but that might be asking too much.
really looking forward to this.
