Earlier this month cool people, like myself, were given access codes to the restricted Titanfall Alpha test and today we receive confirmation of a Beta coming to Xbox One and PC players. Called it

Respawn studio head Vince Zampella tweeted the following statement earlier today announcing the beta:

There is no official word on the release date of the Titanfall Beta, but many are speculating that it will begin in February in preparation of it’s March release. So far it seems unlikely that a Beta will be coming for the Xbox 360 version of the game which is being developed by Bluepoint Games.

Due to the incredibly strict terms of agreement for the Titanfall Alpha I cannot release much information about the game, but I will say it’s shaping up to be one of the best multiplayer shooters in years. The mech combat is fun and the gameplay feels very hectic. In a very good way. Don’t be deterred by the 6-on-6 player restrictions. After playing the Alpha I can’t imagine having more than 12 possible mechs in one map.

Titanfall is scheduled to release on March 11th, 2014 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.

      1. Hahaha… Well that can be arranged, but I will need an awkward favor involving Reese’s Pieces and Labradoodles in return…

  1. Glad to hear the player count seems to be appropriately set. I figured all the initial backlash over 6v6 was severely unfounded since no one had even played it yet. Sometimes I hate the reactionary mindset of our gaming community as a whole.

    1. ” I figured all the initial backlash over 6v6 was severely unfounded since no one had even played it yet.”

As is most backlash online. It’s usually people who haven’t played the game in any shape or form, or people who have done nothing more than read a review or watch footage on YouTube.

DmC and Killer Instinct are prime examples.

    2. Yeah I was annoyed when I heard all the initial backlash. People are so quick to judge and dismiss things they’ve never tried. The player balance even for the Alpha seemed solid. I never felt over or under powered on foot or in the mech and seeing a giant 3 on 3 mech battle never got old. I’m really excited to see this game launch.

  2. Played it last year at Eurogamer it was fantastic fun on a very early build. Well balanced and super fast paced with lots of focus on objective gameplay. Really excited for the Beta especially once they confirmed the 6v6 player count.

    1. I was really surprised by how balanced the game felt. Typically in games that have massive vehicles or mechs, the people on foot are pretty much worthless, but I never got that feeling while playing.

      1. It’s the speed of the Pilots and the clever level design that prevent the Titans from becoming overpowered. Hard to nail a pilot when he’s jumping and wall running.

  3. Very much looking forward to playing this one. My poor X1 isn’t getting a lot of attention at the moment but I’m hoping this game will keep me busy all year 😀

    1. This is going to be the next great multiplayer game. I’ve gotten a taste for mech action… now I need more!
