Thou Shalt Not Steal is Really More of a Guideline

A new trailer is out for the upcoming reboot of the Thief series. We get a great look at the gameplay and all the ways to complete your very own steampunk crime wave, as well as good look at the story. Check it out:

I’ve never actually played any of the Thief games but this isn’t looking too shabby. Look for Thief on February 25th for the PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4.

  1. I just hope they don’t overplay or ramp up the Steampunk aspects of it. Thief is still the only Steampunk setting that I’ve ever truly loved, largely in part because so much of it was not absurd or improbably over-the-top (to where it was genuinely frightening when the Mechanists actually started making shambling mechanical horrors). The City felt a lot like BtAS’s Gotham: darker, dirtier and more visceral than a lot of the stupid airship and steamcar steampunk settings.

    1. After watching the trailer, I guess I won’t have to worry about that. The violence seems a bit over the top, and “Strong Sexual Content” is a headscratcher, though I guess it shouldn’t be, given games today.

  2. Screw that noise! I’m jacking everything in (and out of) sight! After playing through DXHR, I found a new love of stealthing through entire levels, just to see if I could pull it off. It took awhile in some chapters, but I eventually was able to knock everyone out and leave them in a heaping pile at the bottom of an AC duct so I could then go about hacking all the comps uninterrupted.

I look forward to knocking out some medieval guards, as well!
