Today’s edition of The Daily Clip might sound like a terrible movie you’d find in the sci-fi section of Netflix instant play, but it’s actually a clip from one of the first bosses in the Double Helix reboot of Strider. Enjoy this little taste of the action.
If you want to grab my attention, throw a giant mecha dragon fight at me within the first 20 minutes of a game. If futuristic ninjas and robot dragons don’t excite you, I probably wouldn’t hold out much hope for Strider. The entire game is filled with this kind of ridiculous over-the-top action and it’s definitely understandable for one to be overwhelmed by awesome.
I’ve put several hours into Strider so far and I’ve really been digging it. The game is much larger than I ever would have anticipated and the Metroidvania style exploration and unlock system is very rewarding. There are tons of secret locations and unlockables and the game truly challenges you to try and uncover everything. One of the achievements is for completing the game in under four hours, but I can tell you right now, that’s not happening for me.
We hope you enjoyed today’s edition of The Daily Clip. Be sure to check back every day for more great videos straight from our Xbox One Game DVR.
Since the term “Metroidvania” doesn’t really give any incite to the actual size of a game, I didn’t go in to Strider thinking it was going be all that massive.. but holy crap, was I wrong. I can’t get over just how gigantic the game is and how rewarding it is to find those elusive health upgrades and special abilities. I wish I could use the D-pad instead of the analog, but so far it’s been a pretty incredible game.
