Most gamers in their 20’s remember the Super Nintendo classic Shaq Fu. It was an enormous critical and financial success and many historians even regard it as one of the greatest fighting games ever created. Now 20 years later, fans may finally get the sequel they’ve been waiting for.
Please know that I was speaking completely ironically. Shaq Fu is one of the worst video games of all time and nobody in their right mind has anything positive to say about it’s release, but a bold new development team wants to take this flop and give it a proper sequel.[youtube http://youtu.be/rfLuPc6bOGE]
Big Deez Productions is working directly with Shaq to create a game that captures the essence of his legacy and delivers something much more enjoyable than the original, which frankly shouldn’t be much of a challenge. This team is apparently made up of video game vets who’ve worked on Street Fighter, Halo and even Final Fantasy titles. Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn will be a “a modern-day take on the classic beat ‘em up,” and will put players in Shaq’s massive size 16 shoes as he fights his way through waves of outrageous enemies.
Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn is currently set to release on PC if the studio can raise the $450k in funding for its IndieGoGo campaign. If you’d like a personalized message from Shaq or if you’d like Shaq to follow you on Instagram, just head on over to the crowdfunding page and donate $500 – $750.[youtube http://youtu.be/LzO5OSpwbp8]
You’d think a retired professional basketball player with his own line of soda (sure, it may be terrible but it’s still out there) could spot this studio a cool 450 grand with no problem, but it’s hard to not want to support Shaq. I mean come on, look at that smile. For those interested in donating, you still have 45 days left and funding is currently at nearly $22k. Shaq promises “this time we won’t FU it up.”
Will you be helping make Shaq Fu 2 a reality?
