Smash Run Only Available for 3DS Version of Super Smash Bros.

Super-Smash-Bros-Wii-U-3DS

The 3DS version of the upcoming Super Smash Bros. title introduces a brand new game mode that combines platforming, dungeon-crawling, powerups, and classic Smash combat into one amazingly ridiculous looking experience called Smash Run

Smash Run seems to combine every single element you’ve ever loved about any game and blends them together into a delicious smoothy of joy. You and three other friends enter enormous dungeon style stages and battle through hordes of random enemies from your favorite Nintendo franchises in a desperate attempt to collect as many powerups as you can in five minutes. These powerups increase your characters strength and defenses in various ways depending on the type.  When the time runs out, players will be placed in a classic Super Smash Bros. battle that factors in the powerups you collected during the Smash Run.

I’m incredibly excited about the idea of just tanking out Kirby or Olimar with powerups and crushing characters like Bowser or Donkey Kong. It’s slightly disappointing that Smash Run won’t be making it’s way to the Wii U version. With the newly optimized online capabilities, this would be a great way for console players to shake up their time with Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros 3DS is currently scheduled to release sometime this Summer.
