The Vita has been around for a while now and we all knew a makeover was coming. Having already been released in Europe, the revamped model of the PS Vita is now scheduled to land on American soil and into players hands.
Save the date for May 6th to get your hands on the PS Vita Slim. New buyers will be missing out on the original’s glorious OLED screen for a slightly lower quality LCD, but the trade-off is reduced size, reduced weight, and longer battery life. Available as a bundle for $199.99 including the system and 8GB memory card. As a bonus, you will receive the Vita port of Gearbox’s big hit Boderlands 2 as well as six pieces of its DLC on that memory card. Anybody buying this bundle will have a full week head start on other Borderlands 2 enthusiast as the game will not be available via PS Store or resellers until May 13th. Don’t feel too dscouraged because you can still carry over your saves from the PS3.
How many people out there does this entice to get a Vita? Or do you already have one and just got a little jealous?

I honestly had no interest in picking up a PS Vita until I got my PS4 a couple of days ago. Now the cross-play stuff seems a little more interesting, but I really just want one to cross-play Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
I was actually wondering what the difference was in the new PS Vita model coming with Borderlands 2, but you’re saying it has a lower quality LCD display? Is it something drastically noticeable?
Think about going from a 30 mega pixel camera to a 20 mega pixel camera. Side by side you’ll see a difference but by itself it will still look great and be everything you need. Balance it against getting the better battery life and lighter weight. You’ll be just fine with that purchase.
Battery life is always important. Nothing sucks more than taking a handheld along for a road trip and it dying within the first hour.
I’m already picking up MLB 14 The Show on 5/6, but maybe I’ll eye up the new Vita shortly after.
I have the OG Vita and am very satisfied with it. I will not speak against the new Slim model with its advantages though.
But it’s not worth dropping $200 for more battery life and a lighter weight, right?
I would say it is worth it. The LCD will still look great.
Oh, I mean if you already have the original Vita.
Ah…not if you already have one.
