Six Free Games Available in May for PSN Plus Subscribers

Playstation Plus subscribers enjoy free games each month across all Sony platforms, and May’s list of freebies has been revealed by IGN. What’s up for grabs?

Next month PS4 owners can download the indie puzzle-platformer Stick it to the Man, while PS3 owners can pick up Puppeteer, the 2D fighter Skullgirls Encore and the “not FIFA” soccer game Pro Evolution Soccer 2014, all free of charge. You PS Vita owners won’t be left out either, as you’ll have access to the deliciously morbid platformer Limbo and frantic puzzle game Surge Deluxe.

PSP owners are getting left out next month, but there’s no telling if that’ll be a common trend while Sony continues to put a strong focus on their Vita handheld.

  1. I finally signed up to this service to pickup Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. From the upcoming games I am interested in trying out Skullgirls and Limbo.

    1. Brothers was my 2nd favorite game in all of 2013, only being edged out by Blood Dragon. Man, such a great story and choc full of emotion. It punched me in my feel gland the whole time.

Limbo is another great game, but I haven’t played Skullgirls or Encore. I’ll definitely be picking it up for free though, especially as a fan of 2D fighters.

    1. Stick it to the Man looked interesting when I saw the first trailer for it, so I’ll check it out. So far I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the PS4 indie scene.

I’ll snag Skullgirls Encore on PS3, but I’m not too big in to the other ones and don’t own a Vita.

  2. I still need to put my Vita on pre-order at GameStop, though if I get some bills paid off quicker, I might pick it up sooner to start reviewing stuff since no one else on the team has one yet.

Skullgirls looks like fun, I’ll probably snag that one.

      1. Someone in my Linkshell told me they’re supposed to let you do that, but I don’t know if that’s something they’ll be adding down the line or what.

The Vita’s off-screen play is also rather limited, as far as distance goes. I think there was some video at Gamespot that showed you could only go about 20 steps from the console before lag took over and maybe 30 steps before it disconnected completely. I was hoping for something permanent, like a downloaded version on the Vita that runs like the PS3 version.

      2. Still though, that would be nice especially if you share the tv with others or your controller does. Plus it would be great exercise for the vita’s graphics capabilities

      3. Yeah, I was just hoping I could take a Vita to the airport or some other place with wifi and continue my FFXIV adventure, and that may be the case.. I just have no idea how it works and on what level.

I remember the Vita commercials for certain games showing that you can pause it on ps3 and pick it up on your Vita outside of the house to continue, and I’m hoping that’s the case with FFXIV.

      4. It could be that because it requires a constant internet connection, it may not unless you have a 3G model. Even then it still may not.

Other games you download it to the memory card once you enter the code for the cross-buy so those are probly the ones you see being picked up on the vita and being portable.
