In a Gamnesia report earlier today, they brought to our attention a certain Financial Results Briefing document from Nintendo, dated 5/8/2014. In this report, it not only shows that Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem is still a working title for the Wii U, but that Monolith Software‘s X is scheduled for a 2014 release worldwide. All aboard the hype train!
All has been quiet on the Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem front after Atlus was acquired by Sega last year, but the fact that it’s still showing up on official Nintendo documents is a good sign. It’s still listed as TBD, but that does mean that Nintendo hasn’t decided against working on the cross-over title, so we’ll possibly see it as another strong exclusive hitting the Wii U at some point.
Monolith‘s X has been on the radar of every RPG fan, and if you’ve played Xenoblade Chronicles you’ll know exactly why. We’ve all been wondering when we can expect X, or even if they’re still calling it that, but the document just shows that it’ll release worldwide in 2014 and it’s listed as “A brand new title developed by MONOLITH SOFTWARE INC.” rather than just X.
It’s also probably nothing, but a supposed E3 leak listed a game by the name of Xenogears: Origins, so that’s always a possible name. I’m sure we’ll hear more about X, or whatever they decide to call it, during Nintendo‘s E3 2014 presentation.
Either way, good news is good for Wii U owners. Now if everyone would just stop whining about the sales figures and pick up the console we’d all be living in a happy world with off-screen play and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

At some point, I’ll play Xenoblade Chronicles. Then maybe I too could join the X hype train.
Xenoblade Chronicles is a fantastic JRPG. Emphasis on fantastic. Did I mention it’s fantastic? Because it’s fantastic.
Please let the next article you write about Project X be called “X Gonna Give It To Ya” followed by “Where My Dogs At?”
You know what’s good, yo!
If there was a Xenogears: Origins game I would die. Die of a nerdgasm.
I’m sure most of the JRPG community would die in unison.
