PS4 Outsells Xbox One, Titanfall Tops Game Sales for April

We could pretty much just copy/paste last month’s article on sales figures, as the PS4 has outsold the Xbox One for the 4th month in a row and Titanfall continues to be the top selling game overall. Is anyone surprised?

Sony has yet to reveal sales figures, but Microsoft has confirmed that they moved 115,000 Xbox One units across the month of April. For comparison sake, the Xbox One is currently selling 76% more units than the Xbox 360 did during its initial 6 months, so that’s both impressive for Microsoft‘s new console and Sony for outselling it.

Even though Sony led in hardware sales, Microsoft topped the software department as it accounted for over 2 million April game sales on the Xbox 360 and 447,000 on the Xbox One.

Sales are combined across all consoles, but here are the top 10 selling games for the month of April:

  1. Titanfall (Xbox One, 360, PC)
  2. Call of Duty: Ghosts (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, PC)
  3. NBA 2K14 (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, PC)
  4. Minecraft (360)
  5. LEGO The Hobbit (Xbox One, 360, PS3, PS4, Wii U, 3DS, Vita)
  6. The LEGO Movie Videogame (Xbox One, 360, PS3, PS4, Vita, 3DS)
  7. LEGO Marvel Superheroes (Xbox One, 360, PS3, PS4, Vita, 3DS, PC)
  8. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (PS4. PS3, 360, Wii U, 3DS)
  9. Grand Theft Auto V (PS3, 360)
  10. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, PC)

Interestingly enough, last month’s #2 game, inFAMOUS: Second Son, is nowhere to be found. That has a lot to do with the SKU’s being combined for the sales totals.

According to Joystiq, if SKU’s weren’t combined across all consoles, Yoshi’s New Island (3DS), MLB 14: The Show (PS3), inFAMOUS: Second Son (PS4), Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (Xbox One) and Kinect Sports Rivals (Xbox One) would have made it in the top 10.
