Microsoft Offers Minecraft: Xbox One Edition as a $4.99 Upgrade

Big news was released today for fans of the tremendously popular block crafting game, Minecraft, especially for those planning on a purchase for Xbox One. Microsoft is offering a rather tasty deal for players looking to upgrade from the Xbox 360 version.

We already knew that saves from the Xbox 360 version would transfer to Xbox One, but to sweeten the deal further, it was announced today that anyone who owns the 360 version of Minecraft can upgrade to next-gen tree punching for only $4.99. That’s a $15 discount.

I’m sure this news has you pretty anxious to get back into the staggering world of Minecraft, but you’re probably wondering when you’ll get the chance to enjoy the expanded experience of the Xbox One version. Well, we don’t have an exact date, but Microsoft has confirmed an August launch. We’ll keep you updated, but until then you may just want to clear your schedule for the entire month; just to be safe.

  1. Wow! My friend is praying for mods in this version, and I agree: Mods + Minecraft Xbox One Edition = Heaven in Minecraft! With mods we’ll have access to trains, wider varieties of real-life food, Pokémon, furniture… OUR POSSIBILITIES WOULD BE ENDLESS!

    1. POKEMON IN MINECRAFT WOULD BLOW MY MIND! Mods would be a God-send for the console version of the game. There is some really fantastic user-created content out there.

      1. I know, right?! 😀 There is a Pokémon mod for the PC version, and it is amazing! Functioning battle system, working Pokédex (not too easy to craft after all), it is overall a good mod 🙂

      2. I’ve seen YouTube videos online for that one and I’ve been incredibly tempted to give it a try. I just…. I just don’t know if I’m ready to dive back into Minecraft. It’s swallowed me once before…

      3. I cannot answer that, for that question requires deep soul searching… On a random and unrelated note, what kind of software do you draw your comics on?

      4. We use a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. We draw our comics by hand and scan them into Illustrator to clean up the lines and then move the file into Photoshop to do the coloring/shading.

      5. It can be a process sometimes, but it’s always fun and something we love to do, so we don’t mind. Thanks for the curiosity!

      6. You are welcome. I had to ask, since I am taking digital art next year, and my computer happens to be from 3,000 BC, so…yeah.

      7. Yeah… I’d recommend a Wacom tablet instead of a stone tablet. *Ba doot tssss*

Good luck with your classes, though! That’s always a fun journey.

      8. Great pun, man. Great pun 😀

I’ll need all the luck I can get for the next year. But I must focus on the current priority: SUMMER!
