The Evil Within Delayed to October

The upcoming journey into madness from acclaimed survival-horror legend Shinji Mikami has been delayed by nearly two months. Fans will now have to wait until October to get their hands on The Evil Within.

Originally, The Evil Within was scheduled to launch on August 26th, but Bethesda recently announced that the first title from Tango Gameworks won’t release until October 21st in the US and October 24th in Europe. This delay will grant “the development team additional time to make further balance changes and refinements to the game” and allow the team to capitalize on some “Halloween Horror” style marketing.

In the meantime, Bethesda has released a brand spanking new trailer showcasing a group of gamers’ reactions to some of the horrifying imagery in The Evil Within. Some of the faces and squeals of terror are pretty priceless. The trailer also describes a pre-order incentive ecalled The Fighting Chance Pack, which gives players a shload of in-game content including a med-kit, a green gel to upgrade your character’s stats, a double-barrel shotgun with three lonely shells, an incendiary bolt, and a poison agony bolt.

The main thing that concerns me about this delay is the fact that now The Evil Within and Evolve launch on the same day… The two biggest horror releases of the year share the same release date. Fans looking for thrills this Halloween will have a lot to look forward to, but the wallet is going to be pretty sore afterwards. Why must I love horror games so much?
