Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, the latest entry in developer Arc System Works’ fighting game franchise, was recently confirmed to be getting a North American release for the PS3 and PS4. The game will be brought stateside by Aksys Games Localization, Inc., who has a long history of translating and localizing Japanese video games for English-speaking markets.
Xrd will be the first game in the series to use 3D models of the characters instead of 2D sprites and will have them face off in 2.5D. The game is set one year after Guilty Gear 2: Overture and includes 15 playable characters, including an all-new antagonist, Ramletherl Valentine. Aksys reported that the game retains some of the series’ signature systems, but that many of these systems have been significantly expanded and improved.
A European release hasn’t been confirmed just yet but a playable version of Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- will be at E3, so hopefully more information will be dropped around that time. North American gamers can expect their copies sometime this fall.
I bought a PS3 just so I could play Arc System Works’ other fighting game, BlazBlue Chronophantasma, so I for one am looking forward to this game.
