Drakengard 3 Gets 6 DLC Chapters

Drakengard 3 landed on the PS3 last month and was met with mixed reviews, but it features enough blood and dragon pee that it’s bound to earn itself a cult following at some point.

If you’re one of the few and the proud, Square Enix has just released 6 prologue DLC chapters — one for each sister — for $5.99 each, or bundled together for $29.99. Each chapter will focus on one of the six sisters and contains an exclusive weapon set and list of trophies to unlock.

Not familiar with Drakengard 3? It’s a hack-and-slash RPG in the Drakengard/Nier universe where you control Zero on her quest to kill her 5 sisters. It’s an oddball story with lots of blood, sexual innuendos and dragons urinating. It’s probably best to just watch the trailer and judge for yourself.

  1. Providing the options for increasingly perverse and soul-crushing outcomes the deeper you go? Drakengard is one of those games that I’m baffled got turned into a franchise.

    1. I never really got in to the original 2 and only put about 5 hours in to Nier before giving up. I’m actually enjoying Drakengard 3 for some odd reason, though.

      1. The original was a fascinating thesis on the subversion of tropes in heroic fantasy, but that didn’t necessarily make it an enjoyable experience. When the only character who wasn’t a scumbag, ass-hole, murderer or child molester dies and that’s the ‘good’ ending, you’re pretty far down the rabbit-hole of unpleasantness…
