Nintendo’s first presentation at E3 this year was a powerful experience. On top of a huge assortment of Wii U and 3DS exclusives, Nintendo also revealed the first line of Amiibo figures; small figurines which can be scanned into your favorite games to expand the experience. Super Smash Bros. Wii U plans on utilizing this in a very big way.
Amiibo figures will allow players to train their favorite Super Smash Bros. characters, take them to a friend’s house, and watch as they crush rival Amiibo fighters or even close friends. Training your fighter will increase their level and earn them attack and defense points, making them even more challenging. Players can also customize special moves and abilities, so no two figures will be the same.
Not all characters will have an Amiibo figure at launch, but Nintendo stated that more figures will arrive soon after the. Here is the confirmed list so far:
- Mario
- Link
- Peach
- The Villager
- Pikachu
- Donkey Kong
- Samus
- Yoshi
- Kirby
- Wii Fit Trainer
Amiibo figures will also be available for other Wii U titles such as Mario Party 10 and Mario Kart 8. Not much information has been revealed on how these games will utilize this new technology, but the conference is still young and we have a lot to look forward to.
