Warframe Coming to Xbox One

Free-to-play cyborg shooter Warframe will be making its way to the Xbox One at some point this year. Although a concrete date has yet to be announced, it’s confirmed that it will release in 2014 and will feature SmartGlass support for the Warframe Nexus App. This app provides “real-time game information and stats such as Alerts to critical missions and the Codex, which provides key data on all the Warframes, weapons, Mods and more to help you strategize your game play.

Warframe purists scoffed at the PS4 release as it’s not up to date with the PC version, and I assume the Xbox One will be no different. However, Warframe performs well on the PS4 and will no doubt be another great co-op addition to the Xbox One lineup in 2014.

For those of you not familiar with Warframe, it’s a free-to-play third-person shooter that allows you to customize your Tenno (cyborg ninja type thing) with weapons and abilities. Everything in the game can be earned normally, so it’s legitimately free-to-play, although you can purchase in-game materials, new Frames (Tenno classes, basically) and weapons online. It’s very similar to Mass Effect 3‘s multiplayer and features 4-player co-op, as well as a full length campaign. I really enjoyed the PS4 version and have every intention of jumping in to the Xbox One version when it releases this year.
