Fans of the Gears of War and Unreal series will recognize the name Cliff Bleszinski, or rather, CliffyB. The lead designer of Gears of War and the two immediate sequels retired from Epic Games on October 3rd, 2012.

But back in April of this year, CliffyB filed for a new business with the North Carolina Department of Secretary of State. The paperwork listed himself as CEO, while former EA producer and Guerrilla Games cofounder Arjan Brussee is listed as chief operating officer.

In an e-mail to GamesBeat, CliffyB was quoted to have said the following.

“I find it promising and exciting that there’s such interest in what I do next that people are willing to look up from their Bud Lite and hot dogs and fireworks and continue to talk about what I may be doing next in my professional career.”

While not much has been released on the titles that Boss Key Productions will be producing, some information has been leaked out into the world. The document filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on May 30th hints that the studio will be producing online titles — “downloadable multiplayer interactive computer game programs; computer and video game software; downloadable computer and video game software; downloadable electronic games via the Internet and wireless devices; downloadable computer application software in the field of games; interactive computer and video game programs.”

There is also a video game codename of Blue Streak listed under Boss Key Productions.

Not much else has been leaked out quite yet, but those curious can sign up for the mailing list on the website.

  1. Cliffy’s a balanced designer. I respect him for his COG armor designs in Gears of War, mainly because he made them practical in both female and male designs instead of focusing on sexualizing the female armor.
