Hearthstone, the World of Warcraft-based card battle game that’s taken the internet by storm, will be seeing its first official expansion here soon in Curse of Naxxramas. Although Hearthstone is free-to-play, Curse of Naxxramas is a paid feature (for the most part).
Just like its WoW counterpart, Naxxramas will be split up in to 5 separate wings — Arachnid Quarter, Plague Quarter, Military Quarter, Construct Quarter, and Frostwyrm Lair. In that exact order, the next wing will open up on a weekly basis, with Arachnid Quarter being free during the opening month.
From there, you can purchase each wing separately for $6.99 or 700g in-game, $19.99 for the remaining four wings as a bundle, or if you happen to miss the freebie during the opening month you can pick up all 5 wings for $24.99.
Defeating a wing for the first time will unlock its Heroic mode, featuring a higher difficulty. If you managed to defeat all of the Naxxramas bosses on Heroic mode, you’ll earn yourself a new card back for your collection.
Although a concrete release date has yet to be announced, Blizzard is aiming for a release at some point this month.
