Owners of the Wii U may have noticed a distinct lack of Sega titles on the Virtual Console. While some have held out hope that releases of old favorites such as Sonic The Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Vectorman and others could be on their way, Sega company producer Yosuke Okunari shot down that dream on Twitter.
While this is disappointing, Okunari in turn gave hope back and suggested that the desire for these games on the Wii U Virtual Console be brought to the attention of Sega West.
This isn’t to say you can’t play them on the Wii U. Many of these games are still accessible by selecting the “Wii Menu” channel on the Wii U and making use of the built-in emulation software. The GamePad will be a pretty paperweight while you play, as you will have to use a Wii Remote or Classic controller, but it at least allows you to play your Sega favorites.
Just in a roundabout, time-consuming way.
