Nintendo was set to reveal two new Super Smash Bros fighters today, but since they’re Nintendo, they just went ahead and did whatever they wanted to do. Today’s reveal trailer not only confirmed the return of Captain Falcon, but Fire Emblem: Awakening stars Lucina and Robin.
If you’re wondering, Robin is the canon name for Awakening‘s hero character, and yes, you can play as both the male and female version. Chrom was also shown, but Kotaku later confirmed that he is just an assist trophy. I know he was widely requested by Fire Emblem fans to be playable, so I’m sure that breaks their hearts to hear.

I wonder if the 3DS version will allow your Robin to appear the same as they do in your own FE:Awakening game. That would be awesome.
That would be really cool, actually.
I was thinking the same thing for the animal crossing villager, although it’s probably too cool (and it’s been so highlighted for the Mii fighter that it seems unlikely for the rest). But I am pretty excited for Robin even if she’ll have different hair.
“Too much Fire Emblem for the Captain Falcon reveal.”
This news excites me in ways that shouldn’t be typed. Husband/Wife duo incoming!
I was hoping for Shulk from Xenoblade, so I M DISSAPOINTS
