Microsoft nailed a great launch exclusive with Double Helix‘s reboot of the Killer Instinct series, which quickly went from being a fan favorite to achieving main event status at EVO 2014. Now in the hands of Divekick developer Iron Galaxy, Killer Instinct is not only gearing up for its second season, but is getting a physical retail release on September 23rd for $19.99!
Killer Instinct‘s physical release will contain everything found in the Combo Breaker Pack online. But wait! There’s more! Not only will you get all 8 fighters on the current roster, but you’ll also have immediate access to T.J. Combo, who was confirmed back at E3 2014!
Being the first fighter released for Season 2, there’s no word yet if T.J. Combo will be available for purchase on Xbox Live on September 23rd, or if early access is just an added bonus for those buying the physical release. I can’t imagine Microsoft would want to alienate early digital adopters of the fighting exclusive, but weirder things have happened.
Killer Instinct‘s 2nd season doesn’t have a release date at this time, but aside from T.J. Combo, Killer Instinct 2‘s Maya is the only other confirmed fighter.
Oh, and good luck getting Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical” out of your head after re-reading the title.
