If you follow our official Twitter feed, you may have noticed that we’ve been in contact with London-based developer Spilt Milk Studios about their current Early Access project, Tango Fiesta. Or maybe you watched our 4-player bro-op stream last weekend?
To those not familiar with the game, Tango Fiesta is a top down 4-player co-op arcade shooter that delivers every cliche found in 80’s action films. Players can team up locally or online, mowing down baddies with parodies of Mad Max and Robocop, and complete objectives within procedurally generated maps, all in the name of destruction. Of course, you could just browse the gun shop and enjoy the Arnie-style voice overs for weapons like Mac & Cheese, or the Uzi 9mm. That alone provides at least an hour of enjoyment.
Spilt Milk Studios has just released the biggest update in Tango Fiesta‘s 10-week existence, dubbed Who Wants to be a Killionaire?, which adds a brand new Running Man-inspired stage to go along with last week’s new female character, Conchita. You’ll hack and shoot through a futuristic gladiatorial gameshow setting, complete with deadly traps, new enemy models, and 5 brand new bosses; all of whom offer their own weapons should you manage to take them down. Did I mention one of them unlocks a Mark & Hamill Chainsaw as a reward? I need this in my life.
Aside from the new chainsaw, other new weapons include Dr. Frosty, which freezes enemies solid, The Shocker, which is a slow moving shot with shocking results (bad joke, shut up), and The Burner, which is now the fastest way to cook a human body. I really need to hop on just to hear Arnie yell “DOCTUH FRAHSTEE!!!”, or “DAH BUHNUH!!”
You can read all about the Who Wants to be a Killionaire? update right here, and if you’re up to the challenge, maybe pick up Tango Fiesta while you’re at it. It’s currently $12.99 on Early Access, and although their online needs a bit of polish still, they’ve been hard at work offering weekly updates to improve the game as much as possible. If you’re in to local co-op, you can’t go wrong here.
