Dead Island 2’s First Gameplay Trailer Arrives Before Gamescom

Set to release in spring 2015 alongside another first-person zombie bashing game, Dead Island 2 drew a lot of attention with its comedic premier trailer back at E3 2014. Two months later and just a week shy of Gamescom, we’re treated to a second trailer that shows what we all wanted to see in the first place — gameplay.

This is the first Dead Island title developed by Yager instead of Deep Silver, as they’re working on Dying Light; that other first-person zombie game we just mentioned. It’s also the first to take place in the United States. After viewing the trailer, the series seems to be in good hands, at least in the combat and carnage department.

Here’s hoping some of that humor from the original reveal carries over to the actual game when we get to jump in to a zombie-filled Hollywood early next year. Will you be picking up Dead Island 2, Dying Light, or both?

  1. Wait… The Spec Ops guys are making it? Well, I guess it takes developing one of the most narratively ambitious action games of recent years that didn’t sell well to be deemed worthy of working on a masterpiece like the one here, lol. Still, the game looks very fun in the dumbest of ways. Will probably pick it up once it’s sale price eligible.

      1. Spec Ops The Line was excellent.

I do have one question though. How is this Dead Island 2 if it’s in California?

      2. I asked the exact same question as soon as I saw the trailer lol. I have no effin’ clue, dude. None. Like the movie Haunting in Connecticut 2 that took place in Georgia?

      3. Lol. I almost forgot about that one :].

Oh well. Lets hope this game kicks ass. I’ve played Dead Rising 3 out and I need another zombie game to play.

      4. I’m with you. I loved the DR3 DLC that came out, but it got old pretty fast. Dying Light also looks really neat, but I think I’m more interested in crafting and bludgeoning zombies in a co-op RPG than avoiding them via parkour.
