September’s Xbox Live ‘Games With Gold’ Announced

With August coming to a close, another month means another set of free games on Xbox consoles for those of you with an Xbox Live Gold subscription. What’s up for grabs?

The Xbox 360 will be seeing the indie class-based thief sim Monaco: What’s Yours is Mine during the first half of the month, with the latter half offering one of the finest 360 games of all time in Halo: Reach.

As usual, Monaco will be available for download from September 1st-15th, with Halo: Reach taking over on the 16th until the end of the month.

And what about the Xbox One? Unfortunately one of the two freebies next month will be one of the freebies from this month, in Crimson Dragon. While I did enjoy the game, it’s a bit depressing to see one of last month’s Games With Gold bleeding in to September instead of mixing it up a little. To make up for it, Super Time Force will be available as well, offering up one of the best Xbox One exclusives at no cost.

If I had to guess, I’d say that Crimson Dragon will remain free until the 15th, with Super Time Force taking over until the end of September.

Overall it’s not a bad lineup, courtesy of Microsoft. Monaco is a hell of a lot of fun, and like I mentioned above, Halo: Reach is one of the best Xbox 360 titles of all time, but seeing Crimson Dragon clinging on for another month, much like Microsoft has already done before with Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, is a bit of a let down. Super Time Force is pretty amazing though, and still fairly new, so we’ll just have to take the good with the bad.
