Mega Rayquaza Will Rule the Skies in Pokemon ORAS

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, affectionately known as ORAS, will grace the 3DS next month on November 21st. In the meantime, we can all snack on this delicious tidbit of Poke news.

Rayquaza has been confirmed to receive a Mega Evolution, as shown in the trailer below. Aside from looking like a total BAMF, Mega Rayquaza will have significantly increased attack and special attack boosts, as well as two exclusive abilities that are bound to piss off the opposition.

Delta Stream will provide a new weather effect called Strong Winds, which protects all flying Pokemon; ensuring they take normal damage from abilities they’d normally be weak to. It also overrides all weather effects and will cause all weather-related abilities like Snow Warning, Sand Stream, and Drizzle to fail. Strong Winds will remain active until Mega Rayquaza leaves battle.

Mega Rayquaza’s Dragon Ascent is also said to be among the hardest hitting flying-type abilities in the game, which deals a significant amount of damage while also reducing the target’s defense and special defense stats.

I see a lot of flying teams battling it out online in the future. How about you?
