HELP!!! Destiny: The Dark Below – Urn of Sacrifice Bounty

Destiny_20141212101449For those playing The Dark Below expansion in Destiny, you’ll be offered the Urn of Sacrifice bounty from Eris Morn. Be prepared to grind this bounty out to get your reward. I won’t be listing the entirety of the bounty, but will be hitting some of the key points and giving you some tips.

The first tip I’ll offer is to make sure you have some time to do this since it took me about three hours to complete it. Also, be sure to grab all the Vanguard and Crota bounties that you can. You’ll be able to complete most of these while completing the Urn of Sacrifice bounty.

Destiny_20141212101517To begin the bounty quest, you must wait for Xur to appear and then go see him. It will cost you one Strange Coin to purchase the Urn. Once you have the Urn you can begin the string of quests associated to it.

I recommend you gear up properly and head to the Moon, taking a fusion rifle with Solar damage and weapons that will do Void damage, since stages of the bounty will require you to get kills on specific enemies with specific damage types. Pay close attention to what each stage of the bounty asks you to do. If you are using the incorrect damage type, or killing the wrong enemy types, you won’t make any progress.

Destiny_20141212102320The best place I found to complete the kill portions of the bounty were on the Moon, specifically by entering Hall of Wisdom. This is just off of where you spawn in the Archer’s Line. Go through the broken dome to get to here. This is where two Knights spawn. Head down and start grinding. You’ll be able to find every enemy type you’ll need by going through the corridors under the moon. If you should ever run out of enemies at any point just go to orbit and come back.

A subclass loadout set with maximum armor and recovery is suggested. One particular stage of the bounty has you melee killing corrupted Thrall–these are the ones that explode, so be careful to kill any other enemies in the area first. A kill by melee will cause the Thrall to explode and nearly kill you. Death is not your friend since it will reset your progress on this bounty stage.

One of the most time consuming stages requires a public event. This is a very specific public event on Earth, so you’ll have to go to the Skywatch and wait for the event to start. This took me a solid half-hour of waiting. Once the event starts, kill enemies as normal and eventually a Knight will show up with the name you are looking for. Don’t worry about getting the kill shot though. There were two other random people when I did this and I still got the proper credit.

For the last stage of the bounty, Eris Morn will send you on one last mission. Go to the Moon to the indicated map location. There will be a new marker on the map for the Ritual of Sacrifice mission. You’ll be able to pretty much run you way straight to the World’s Grave for the fight, so there is no need to kill everything along the way. My advice is to hang out in the doorway where you enter the chamber. Just be sure to have a heavy weapon loaded and ready to handle the enemies that spawn behind you. Keep killing those in front of you, but watch your radar for those behind you.

destiny-tdb-gauntletsAfter the mission is over, go back to the Tower. Turn the Urn in to Xur and go see Eris again. I was rewarded with gauntlets for my character, and while it was a lot of time to invest to get this item, it will save me from grinding again to get something similar. I would suggest that if you are going to do this bounty, do it immediately and see what you get. That way you won’t make the mistake of buying a piece of gear and then getting a duplicate at the end of this bounty.
