Playstation Plus March Line-up Available Now, and It’s a Meaty Beast!

Each month Sony proves why Playstation Plus is worth every penny, and March is no different. Whether you’re playing current-gen on PS4, still holding down the fort on PS3, or playing on the go with the Vita, there’s something awesome to download, free of charge.

Playstation 4 owners actually get four freebies this month, thanks to Sony’s cross-buy system. First up is the reboot of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – New n’ Tasty!, featuring updated visuals, sound, and controls. Ubisoft’s World War adventure Valiant Hearts: The Great War is also up for grabs, as is the indie espionage title CounterSpy and the Vita skater OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood via cross-buy.

Playstation 3 owners can also pick up CounterSpy, along with last year’s crime solving adventure game Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments, and the heart wrenching indie Papo & Yo. Unfortunately Sherlock Holmes isn’t supported by cross-buy, so only the PS3 version is free. Boo hiss.

If you’re a Vita owner, you’ll also have access to CounterSpy, along with the sequel to OlliOlli, OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood.

With Microsoft continuing to recycle their previous month’s Games With Gold, Sony continues to set the bar extremely high in terms of content offered to their paying subscribers. Microsoft took a big step this month, offering the first retail freebie in Rayman Legends, but it’s hard to argue with the constant quality of Playstation Plus.

    1. It’s been a bit since PS3 offered quality AAA freebies. Last month was an old release in Yakuza 4, and the disappointing Thief reboot. January was the mediocre Prototype 2 and Ducktales Remaster. Hopefully April picks this up a bit.

  1. This year has not been good for the PS3 on plus. I didn’t play any of these games, actually I’m quite disappointed with the PS4 line-up too.

    1. I think the Plus subscription exists on PS4 to do one of two things. One, it’s there to give freebies out. Two, it’s there to introduce people to games that may otherwise go unnoticed. Xbox One is having the same issue, where it’s free game per month is generally a brand new indie instead of a retail game (although this month it was Rayman Legends). They gave out #IDARB, Chariot, Volgarr the Viking, and D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, which were all rather fun games. They’re not things that would be on many must-buy lists, but their market significantly expanded once they became available for free. PS4 is really no different. I would have never picked up Valiant Hearts, the new Oddworld remaster, Counterspy, Strider, Binding of Isaac, TowerFall, or OlliOlli2 without them being free, and ended up enjoying all of them.
