The folks at Microsoft dropped a serious bombshell at E3 this year with the announcement of backwards compatibility for Xbox One. Not only will you be able to easily play physical Xbox 360 games on your current gen console, but Xbox Live digital titles will automatically transfer over to your Xbox One library as well. Get ready to revisit that backlog.

Microsoft promises 100 supported titles before the holidays and also announced that 100’s more would be announced in the following months. Essentially all Xbox 360 titles will be supported and all publishers need to do is opt in to the program. If you’re a member of the Xbox One Preview Program, quite a few titles are available right now. Here is the complete list:

A

  • A Kingdom for Keflings
  • A World of Keflings
  • Alien Hominid

  • Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
  • Banjo Tooie

We’ll keep the list updated as more titles become available. In the meantime, dig out those old discs and prepare to relive some classics. Oh, and if you have any buddies who haven’t quite made the jump to current gen, you’ll be able to cross-platform with your Xbox 360 brethren! All the more reason to get hyped about this backwards compatibility!
