Super Smash Bros 3DS: How to Unlock Every Character

super_smash_bros_wii_u_3ds_characters_by_supersaiyancrash-d704xlhRight out of the box Super Smash Bros. 3DS has an enormous selection of characters; 37 to be precise. In addition to this almost overwhelming starting roster, 12 bonus fighters can be unlocked by playing the game and reaching certain milestones. This guide will show you the various ways to unlock every character.

The most straightforward way to unlock the bonus characters is by simply completing matches of the standard Smash mode. You don’t even have to win. All you need to do is complete 10 matches to unlock a character. This continues all the way up to 120 matches, which will reveal the final hidden fighter. Below is a list of every unlockable character and the number of matches in which it takes to make him/her/it playable.

Cheater Mode: If you want to unlock every character in the most repetitive way possible, all you need to do is set the stock count to one, face off against a single enemy CPU, and immediately fall off the ledge as soon as the match begins. While this isn’t the most enjoyable way to unlock the characters, it’s definitely the fastest.
