So I recently started playing the multiplayer of Tomb Raider and I have to say I’m not impressed. It’s like a poor man’s Gears of War without the cheezy one-liners and rippling biceps. In today’s edition of The Daily Clip I show you exactly what you’re not missing out on.
I feel like anyone who’s played a decent online multiplayer game will find this pretty uneventful. The combat is loose and the movement really only works well in single player. I’ve seen numerous standoffs with two opponents, standing less than ten feet apart, firing blinding over each others shoulders. It gets an A+ in the ragdoll department, however. There are some rather hilarious glitches that will send an enemies limp body shooting across the map.

Yet another reason why not every single player game needs a tacked on multiplayer mode. They could have seriously saved so much disc space by keeping multiplayer out of Tomb Raider (which no one really kept playing a few months after the release) and used that empty space to make the campaign more robust.
I haven’t even tried the multiplayer mode but from what I’ve seen and heard, it looks and plays awful. If there’s a franchise that really didn’t need a multiplayer mode, it’s Tomb Raider. They could have spent more time and effort designing complex puzzles and tombs than tacking on an unnecessary multiplayer mode…
I would have loved to see more tombs in my well, “Tomb” Raider game. If anything, I hope this video makes you never want to try the multiplayer. Save yourself the 25 minutes of agony that I went through…
Not every game needs multiplayer, this one certainly didn’t and to have a bad multiplayer is worse. They tried but in the end they should have just made the campaign longer.
Yeah… nobody wanted this. Tomb Raider doesn’t need competitive multiplayer. If they want to tack on half-assed co-op, I’m fine with that, but this is just awful.
