As it stands, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is scheduled to release this spring for PS4 and PS Vita and sometime later this year for Wii U, but after talking with the lovely folks at Oddworld Inhabitants, it sounds like there’s a chance we could be seeing our pal Abe on Xbox One as well.
After some recent developments and a few talks with Microsoft, it sounds like Oddworld Inhabitants may have the opportunity to bring Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty to the Xbox One via the ID@Xbox program. The strict publishing rules in place for Xbox Live Arcade make it impossible for the company to bring the remake to Xbox 360, but the more flexible guidelines with the One give indie devs more freedom than ever before.
Nothing is confirmed at this point, but let’s keep our fingers crossed and wish this talented team the best! This is shaping up to be a beautiful remake of one of my all-time favorite games and I’d love to play it on the ol’ Brobox.

I hope it appears on as many platforms as possible, because the more it sells, the better chance we’ll get of new Oddworld games. (Lorne gave a few interviews at GDC about sales targets and what happens if they meet those targets; 250K = Abe’s Exoddus re-made, and I think 500K = new Oddworld IP.)
That’s exactly how I feel. I’d love to see a brand new entry in the Oddworld series!
Thanks for sharing these numbers, that’s some really good information to consider when gauging developers sales expectations.
