Low Budget Gamer: Xbox Live Deals With Gold & Spotlight Sale for 11/24-11/30

*Low Budget Gamer is our weekly post highlighting deals on Xbox Live and Playstation Network, as well as the occasional random sale post should the need arise. Although sales are usually the same across the board, I should note that all prices listed are in USD.

Tuesday, Tuesday, gotta get down on Tuesday. Like to save money? Awesome! Microsoft’s weekly Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale update every Tuesday, and this week it just so happens to coincide with their Black Friday deals. Tandem sales tag team action!

Aside from a mediocre 15% discount on Neverwinter Zen (the microtransaction currency) and 33% off of a handful of Xbox Fitness add-ons, here’s what’s up for grabs this week on Xbox One.

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Digital Deluxe – 10% off (woo…)
  • Killer Instinct – Maya – 80% off (FYI: entire 2nd season is $10 right now)
  • Lifeless Planet:Premier Edition – 50% off
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – 25% off
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2016: Digital Exclusive Bundle – 25% off
  • RBI Baseball 14 – 75% off
  • WWE 2K16 – 25% off
  • WWE 2K16: Digital Deluxe Edition – 33% off

My thoughts:

Maya is a great addition to Killer Instinct’s second season, and while I’d usually recommend picking up the discounted fighters each week, you can snag the entire 2nd season for $10 ($20 if you want extras, including Killer Instinct 2 Classic) during the Black Friday sale.

I enjoyed Lifeless Planet when I reviewed it for our site last year, and then again when I reviewed the Xbox One version in June. It’s a fun combat-less adventure platformer where you explore a.. well, a lifeless planet. It’s what I imagine Arnie would have done if he were given free rein to explore Mars at his leisure.

Last year’s WWE 2K15 was pretty awful, but this year’s game is a steady improvement in just about every way. That doesn’t necessarily make it good, just better than last year. Wrestling fans probably already own it, but 25% off isn’t anything to scoff at.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was really fun, but the story didn’t hold my interest and I eventually stopped playing it altogether to do something else. I could only fulton everything not stapled down to Earth and hang out with D-Horse for so many hours. If you can devote your full attention to it, 25% off is a nice deal.

I haven’t played anything else on the list, so your guess is as good as mine.

The Xbox 360 crowd can pick up a random assortment of offerings, like Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the original (and only good one, in my opinion) Crysis, the under-appreciated Bulletstorm, and Burnout Paradise. If you’re only running with an Xbox One, Mirror’s Edge is $5 this week and it’s backwards compatible.

Picking anything up?
