The Legend of Envy

*UPDATE At the end of post!*

Nintendo’s been having a bit of a rough time. With Wii U sales in the dumps and rumors flying that they might come up with a new console to replace it soon. The company needs something to get the juices flowing again. How about releasing arguably one of the greatest games ever made on Virtual Console? Yes that’s right, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past! Check out the trailer:

Of course this is just for the Wii U VC, not for us filthy knuckle dragging 3DS owners, no, no, no. Why if we saw an SNES or even a GBA title on our Virtual Console, we’d probably think it was some kind of curse from our primitive sky gods and start sacrificing virgins to appease them. Besides it’s not like A Link to the Past would work on a portable system… oh… oh dear.

Well, at least we got City Connection.

UPDATE: Tiny Cartridge is reporting that The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition was quietly added to the 3DS eShop and is available for free until February 2nd. Thanks for the heads up Nintendo. The mystery of their horrible business model continues.

  1. While I agree that they need more uniformity amongst their eShops, the bigger issue here isn’t the lack of a 3DS release. No, the real issue is that A Link to the Past has been out on the Wii U eShop in Europe for MONTHS.

      1. Plus they still do region locking. I think Nintendo, of all the major players, would do really well to invest in a unified, long-term eshop approach. No region locks, everything cross-platform if it can handle it, etc.

They actually have the library to make a quality eshop experience sale systems by itself.
